These are real conversations. I’m not just the messenger. Some of these conversations, I have engaged in myself. I shall use initials only to protect the not so innocent.
Story 1. In the art room, which is my specific place to conduct most business…
Ms. B: She said she wasn’t talking much this year. That she was going to be silent.
Me:Who?
Ms. B: Dr. M.
Me: And she should be. Nobody wants to hear that foolishness coming out of her mouth.
Story 2. In a Literacy professional development training and after a 5 minute introduction of herself…
Dr. T: On the sticky note, write your favorite book and what you’re reading now.
Me to myself: [Oh, that’s too easy.]
Dr. T: One of my favorites is Such and Such (I really can’t remember, but it was something related to teaching literacy, and then she articulates why it’s her favorite). What I’m reading now is How Not to Die. It’s about the importance of eating well. [Yadda, yadda, yang, yang…] I don’t like reading anything fake.
Me to myself: [Huh! What the fried chicken?!…]
Quote of the day…”Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.“
