Did you think I could talk about 70s music without bringing the Bee Gees into the conversation? To not mention them is akin to politics and lying or chicken and frying. You really couldn’t listen to one of their songs without it playing in your head for hours.
And did your hair not proverbially blow in the wind when you heard Stayin‘ Alive? The BeeGees put John Travolta on the map as a dancing machine. I, personally, wasn’t impressed even then but everybody thought it was hot and whatnot, so it was. I just love the song and their whole sound. You knew them instantly with hits like Night Fever, How Deep is Your Love, Emotion, You Should be Dancing and more.
It’s always amazing when a family can get together and make good money while doing it. Unlike my family, we drove all the way to Nashville for a Family Feud audition and was tearing into each other before getting out the damn car! Couldn’t answer hardly any questions right after all that devilment! My cousin took the family photo like someone who’d come fresh out of a dog fight. They, not me folks, cut up something awful! For a good month, I didn’t claim them.
Now!
This trio, Barry, Maurice and Robin, is labeled The Disco Kings. I don’t think that can be disputed. Back when they were hot, I thought they were American ’cause I’d never heard them do anything but sing. Even in their house, I only imagined them singing. Take a moment to visualize a conversation with those voices at the kitchen table.
What’s also incredible is that these brothers wrote and produced their own music hit after hit. That’s a mighty fine catalog they were able to materialize. Only a handful of artists have outsold the Bee Gees, such as Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks, and Paul McCartney. That puts them on the pyramid of hotness. Okay? A job masterfully done.
Thank all of you, Barry, Maurice and Robin for blessing us with your gifts. A family that works together can make great music together and a lotta money.
And their baby brother, Andy Gibb, was a hottie with a lovely voice as well. I love The BeeGees! *Sighs* Too bad we’ll never get their kind of sound ever again.

Oh yes, Andy Gibb was a major force too. Another family who created a musical dynasty.
And it does seem like those good ole days of good music, the best of my time anyway, are gone. The more I dive into the 70s, the worst current music sounds to me, other than NeoSoul, and I could be wrong since I’m stuck in the 70s now, but that feels like a dying genre.
I know I’m very late but I’m liking the sound of Solange Knowles.
